This month’s Donor Spotlight celebrates the 402 wonderful donors who gave generously to BOEC during our 2020-2021 holiday fundraising campaign. This is the time of year when many organizations like the BOEC raise much needed funds to support the work we do throughout the year and we thank every one of you who chose BOEC in your year-end giving plans last year. So, this month we celebrate YOU and how important your giving is at this time of year. The individual and household gifts we receive throughout November, December, and January make up approximately 20% of BOEC’s annual fundraising goals, so as you can see, this is a very important time for us and our participants alike.
Thanks to your tremendous support, last year’s annual appeal was record-breaking, bringing in over $178,000 which ultimately helped us to weather another challenging year amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
A few unique accomplishments YOU helped us achieve this past year include:
- Increased Year-Over-Year donations by nearly $10K
- 92% gave to general operations which allowed us the flexibility we needed to meet the most urgent needs
- Donations ranged from $5 to $12,500
- 59 donors gave over $1,000
- Donations came from 37 states with 60% from Colorado and 34% from Summit County
We welcomed many new and returning donors:
- 181 people gave in 2020 who did not give in 2019
- 150 people gave who had not donated in 2 years
- 98 people donated for the first time ever!
As many of you know, with the ongoing health crisis, we were forced to operate at only 50% capacity within our Adaptive Ski & Snowboard Program this past season and at a restricted capacity this summer in our Wilderness Program. As we focused on increased safety protocols in an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy, our programs were undoubtedly affected, resulting in a reduction of therapeutic outdoor days for those that need them most. We are eager to get back to some sense of normalcy in the coming year, but it’s going to take a lot of effort and your support to get there. Something that YOU all stepped up and helped us accomplish last year!
