It’s the People Who Make the BOEC Special: Molly Kodish

Molly Kodish has been part of the BOEC community for three years, starting as a winter intern in 2023. She first discovered BOEC through her job as a raft guide at Performance Tours, where BOEC sends staff for guide school. Like many people who find their way to BOEC, Molly initially planned to stick around for just one season, but the people and experiences kept her coming back.

“There aren’t many jobs in the world where you get to be a part of someone’s favorite week or day of the year,” Molly says. “From toothbrush parties to karaoke, there is such a palpable happiness in the air at BOEC that makes it real hard to leave.”

Beyond the fun and camaraderie, Molly loves helping participants accomplish things they never thought possible. One of her favorite parts of the job is watching the lightbulb go off when someone realizes that if they can do this hard thing, they might be capable of so much more than they ever imagined.

Molly knew she was hooked during her very first lesson as an intern. The first run with her student took two hours, and her student was beginning to feel discouraged. Determined to find a solution, Molly spent her lunch break adjusting the student’s setup with duct tape, padding, carabiners, and anything else that might help. When they returned to the mountain, they completed four runs in two hours without a single fall, and her student was smiling from ear to ear.

At the end of the lesson, the participant’s dad shared how much the experience meant to their entire family. It was a moment that showed Molly just how

much a BOEC lesson can mean. It’s not just about skiing. It’s about the confidence and possibilities that participants carry with them long after they leave the mountain.

This summer, Molly was nominated by her peers as Course Director of the Year, recognized for her spirit, strength, and adaptability. Reflecting on an unconventional summer, she credits the support of her teammates for keeping her motivated.

“I never felt alone during any of our courses,” she recalls. The silliness, dancing, and happiness shared along the way helped fuel her passion and reminded her why this work matters.

We’re proud to have people like Molly in our BOEC community, and even more grateful when they choose to stay. The people truly are the heartbeat of BOEC, and we’re lucky to work alongside teammates who bring so much care, energy, and joy to what we do every day.
