The Challenge by Choice Adventure Retreat, run in partnership with the Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado, features six days of outdoor adventure for survivors of an injury to the brain. Come stay in our accessible lodge and enjoy activities such as accessible ropes course, hand cycling, wall climbing, canoeing, fishing, hiking, rock-climbing, and even a wild dance party!

This retreat is custom designed for adults, aged 17 and above and is staffed by volunteers, a registered nurse, and BOEC staff/instructors and interns. All abilities are welcome to apply. For more information, or to get an application, please contact Michael Zavala at the Brain Injury Alliance: [email protected]  or call (303) 562-0401.

Volunteer Buddies

BIA Buddies are assigned as one-on-one partners with the participants. Their primary role is to participate in all the activities and be an active “friend” who ensures that their partner is supported as needed. The buddies work with the staff to make the retreat successful and enjoyable for all the participants. Please contact Michael Zavala for a Buddy application at [email protected].
