Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC) has been providing life-changing outdoor learning experiences for individuals of all abilities, with a focus on those with disabilities and special needs, since 1976. As one of the oldest four-season adaptive outdoor educational organizations in North America, BOEC provides a sense of freedom and accomplishment to those who are routinely excluded from these activities.  Whether skiing or snowboarding in the Adaptive Ski and Snowboard Program, paddling the West’s great rivers, or mastering the high ropes course as part of BOEC’s Wilderness Program, BOEC inspires people of all abilities to discover new places, learn new skills, and rekindle their spirit in the heart of the Rocky Mountains.

Administrative Positions

Marketing and Communications Manager

As a key member of the Marketing and Development Team, the Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for all aspects of marketing and communications to benefit BOEC, it’s key programs and development goals, including visibility, community relations, media relations, branding, and digital marketing.  The ideal candidate will not only have a personal passion for the outdoors but understands the importance of providing access to outdoor activity and adventure for those who are routinely excluded based on disability, special needs, or other barriers.

We are a small, tight knit team of passionate, hard-working professionals who are committed to BOEC’s mission and those we serve.  While we work hard, we also have fun – which is what the BOEC and getting outside is all about!

Instructor Positions

Most of our summer field positions are filled by former interns who have completed a full season of training and coursework. Therefore, very few field positions are available, but you are welcome to submit a resume, particularly if you have experience both in outdoor adventure activities and working with disabilities and special needs. Similarly, many of our winter ski instructor positions are staffed by former interns, but again, if you have PSIA adaptive certification and/or experience in teaching skiing or snowboarding to adults and children with disabilities and special needs, please submit a resume and cover letter. Volunteers
The BOEC welcomes many people to work programs as volunteer instructors, especially in the winter. See the Volunteers page for more info.

Internships
The BOEC features seasonal internship openings throughout the year, offering room, board and a small stipend, and extensive trainings and work experience for those wishing to learn the trade. See the Internship page for more information.
