Who: This program is designed to accommodate youth ages 16-21 who are ready for a true backcountry wilderness adventure.  Activities include camping, cooking, river travel, and spending full days outside. Individuals must meet all our enrollment guidelines to attend.  Friends, family members and care attendants are welcome to join if assistance is needed.  

What:  A classic western river trip. This trip involves floating down Ruby and Horse Thief Canyons of the Colorado River in canoes, inflatable kayaks and paddleboards.  During this trip students will be involved in various aspects of camp craft including cooking, cleaning, setting up their tent and learning how to navigate the water in either a canoe or inflatable kayak. BOEC staff will be there to assist individuals through all aspects of the experience.

Where:  The Colorado River in southwestern Colorado and Southeastern Utah. This section includes 25 miles of scenic views, wildlife viewing, and opportunities for short hikes while paddling down river. This is a remote area where there will be no cell phone service.
