Marin Gala
Winter Intern
Hi! My name is Marin Gala and I am from Malvern, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia. I completed my undergraduate degree at Slippery Rock University in Recreational Therapy with a minor in Psychology and Animal Assisted Interventions. As a student at Slippery Rock, I had the opportunity to implement recreational activities such as social interactive games, physical activity, horticulture, and horseback riding to improve functioning and quality of life in varying populations. In addition, I was a coach for the Rock Life Program where I assisted individuals with disabilities to become immersed in college life by attending social events, enhancing study strategies, and developing life skills. Last summer, I completed my practicum at ReMed which is a post-acute residential facility aimed to improve functionality and independence of individuals with traumatic brain injuries. I have a big passion for nature and always knew I wanted to take my professional career as a CTRS outdoors! I’ve spent the past few years camping, hiking, and kayaking whenever I can. Being an intern at the BOEC has allowed me to put my two passions together! I am very grateful to be part of this winter’s intern class!
