Details
BOEC is offering a unique overnight river trip on the San Juan River in southeastern Utah, winding through stunning desert canyon country. This section of river features mild to moderate whitewater, making it well-suited for veterans with significant injuries while still offering an engaging and rewarding experience.
Participants will enjoy sandy beaches and campsites, ancient rock art, and breathtaking scenery throughout the journey. Our staff are highly trained in working with a wide range of disabilities and bring deep expertise in river safety, remote environments, and creating meaningful, empowering experiences for both youth and adults.
The trip follows a classic western river expedition format. Traveling by raft allows access to a true wilderness setting while accommodating participants with mobility limitations. An educational component will enrich the experience, offering insight into the prehistoric cultures of the Four Corners region.
This multi-day river trip provides an ideal environment for military veterans to reconnect, learn new skills, build camaraderie, and enjoy time together. Removed from the distractions of daily life, participants can relax, gain fresh perspective, and rediscover their strength and resilience while journeying down the beautiful San Juan River.
Eligible Participants
The BOEC extends a special invitation to guest/invitees of military veterans. The program is designed to accommodate veterans who have sustained a moderate to significant injury. Injuries may include, but are not limited to, brain injuries, PTSD, and/or amputees. Due to the social aspect of outdoor adventures and camping, participants must be ready to enjoy the company of other people (including raft guides).
