Maggie Barnard
Winter Intern
Hi y’all, my name is Maggie Barnard. Growing up in small town Columbus, MS, my childhood consisted of rock climbing, rafting trips down nearby rivers, and camping in local parks. I developed a love for summer camps and adaptive sports while volunteering at Easterseals Camp ASCCA, the largest barrier free camp in the world. I continued spending my summers at Camp ASCCA, working my way up to be the leader of the aquatics team. I am currently studying Recreational Therapy at the University of South Alabama. During the school year, I stay busy working as a swim instructor and volunteering with adaptive water ski and activity programs for adults with intellectual disabilities. After graduating, I hope to continue working towards breaking barriers for people of all abilities to enjoy all that the outdoors has to offer. I am so excited to experience a whole new realm of outdoor activities and adventures with the BOEC … and I can’t wait to see my first white Christmas!
