I am Kristen Bennett, a full-time wife, mom of two boys, and part-time accountant. I moved to Denver, Colorado from Rochester, NY in 1996, and have been sharing time living in both Denver and Breckenridge since 2004. This has allowed us to enjoy a balance between the outdoor lifestyle we love in the mountains (skiing, biking, hiking, etc.) and the city life we’d like to keep ties with (Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos, theatre, etc.). My husband and I cannot imagine a better place to raise our family.
I attended St. Bonaventure University in Olean, NY and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in both Accounting and Education. After moving to Colorado, I began working at John M. Hanson and Company, a CPA firm in Denver where I helped build their Electronic Data Processing Department. In 1997, I went to work for one of my clients, Ultra Petroleum Corporation, where I built both their accounting systems and department from scratch. After retiring from the oil and gas industry in 2008, I found myself searching for a better work/life balance in Breckenridge, Colorado. This change brought me to the BOEC first as a ski volunteer and then as their Finance Director. I left that position nearly two years ago to stay at home just before the birth of our second child, and I am currently doing freelance accounting projects for individuals and small businesses.
