Joe Rice

Hello! My name is Joe and I’m from Grayslake, Illinois. After earning my degree in political science from the University of Notre Dame in 2022, I moved to New York City and worked for a research consulting firm. I eventually realized that corporate life was not for me, and I’m excited to be transitioning careers to become a special education teacher. Before returning to the city to begin that journey, I wanted to touch grass (or, in this case, snow) for a bit, and thought the BOEC internship would be an amazing way to gain invaluable instructional experience while spending time outside. I’ve always found the outdoors and physical activity to be incredibly therapeutic, whether it’s running on city streets or hiking up mountains, and I believe that everybody should be able to access and experience their benefits. Ever since I learned how to ski on a “mountain” in Wisconsin, I’ve been in love with it, and I can’t wait to help others fall in love, too! Thanks! Joe
