Emma Gilroy - Keystone Adaptive Center (KAC) Ski Intern

Hello! My name is Emma Gilroy and I’m finishing up my last semester with SUNY Cortland, where I majored in outdoor recreation. I’m from Rome, NY, close to Adirondack State Park where I spent a lot of time hiking and paddling in some really pristine areas, both in my free time and as a summer camp counselor. I also spent a few winters as a ski instructor at my local ski area, and those outdoor jobs played a significant role in helping me grow to deeply appreciate the importance of spending time outside. I was first introduced to adaptive recreation through some courses at school and I’ve been hooked ever since! I believe outdoor recreation is a fundamental right, and that’s what brought me to apply at the BOEC. I’m so excited to be part of a program that actively works towards making the outdoors a more accessible and inclusive place. I love those east coast mountains but I’m absolutely thrilled to be spending the winter here in Colorado sharing my love for skiing and snowboarding with others!
