The Breckebeiner is made possible through the generosity of Gene and Therese Dayton and the staff of the Breckenridge Nordic Center. All proceeds raised from the Breckebeiner benefit Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center Scholarship Fund. For 43 years, BOEC has been providing life-changing outdoor activities for a diverse population of people with mental and physical disabilities, serious illnesses, injured veterans, youth at risk and other special needs. Join us for the 18th Annual Breckebeiner 50K Nordic Ski-a-thon & Snowshoe Bash, a benefit for the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC) at the Breckenridge Nordic Centerr. This years’ event will start at 7:30am for registration and skiing followed by lunch and prizes at the Nordic Lodge. Check out last year’s event recap to see all the fun you, family, and friends can have!

Gene Dayton, the Directing Founder of the BOEC and proprietor of the Breckenridge Nordic Center, and his wife Theresa, made a commitment 50 years ago to ensure everyone has access to the outdoors through Nordic Skiing, including those with disabilities and special needs. In celebration of this history and in support of the BOEC, the 17th Annual “50-50-50” Breckebeiner Nordic Ski-a-Thon in 2019 was 50 kilometers in length in hopes of raising $50,000 of much-needed scholarship funds for the BOEC.

The Nordic course is on intermediate terrain groomed for both skate and classic styles. An adaptive Nordic course is also offered for those with special needs. Nordic criterion ski loops of 2.5 and 5 km – and a 3 km snowshoe loop – are marked. Rentals are available at the Nordic Center at a reduced rate for all participants.

Breckebeiner participantParticipants in the fundraiser can form a team or ski/snowshoe solo, but either way we encourage you to register and ask that you raise a minimum of $50 by asking friends, family members and business associates to pledge $1 or more for every 1k skied/snowshoed.

You may register and create your own fundraising page online at skireg.com/Breckebeiner. A minimum registration fee of $30 for adults and $15 for children (12 and under) is required to participate. Online registration is TBA, but in person registration will be available on the day of the event at 7:30amPlease contact Marketing and Events Manager, Barry Rubenstein, at 970-453-6422 or [email protected] for more information.

The Breckebeiner is not a relay, so your team can ski the groomed Nordic course together. A number of contests and door prizes will be featured, and the top fundraisers ($250+) will be eligible to win gift certificates donated by Vail Resort’s EpicPromise. All donations are tax deductible.
