Heather Koats
Breckenridge Adaptive Ski & Snowboard Intern
Hi! I’m Heather, born and raised in a little beach town called Grand Haven, Michigan. I attended Grand Valley State University where I received a B.S. in Clinical Exercise Physiology with intentions of applying that knowledge in a therapeutic setting someday. I worked as a rehabilitation aide in a physical therapy clinic after college, eventually looking for something outside of an office setting. I chose to move to Breckenridge to ski instruct and experience life in the Rockies, which I fell in love with! After that I spent a summer volunteering for Colorado State University’s equine therapy program while living in Denver. Getting outside with others has always been a big part of my life having been raised swimming in Lake Michigan, taking family camping trips during the summers, and lots of time spent in organized group sports. The mental and physical health benefits of being outdoors are so important, everyone should have ample chance to have those experiences and I’m excited to spend the winter at the BOEC doing just that with a community of awesome people of all abilities.
