Kristen Van Loo
Winter Intern
My name is Kristen Van Loo. I am compassionate, vision driven, and an outdoor enthusiast. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a minor in Outdoor Recreation from Western Colorado University in Gunnison, Colorado. I was born and raised in Centennial, Colorado, and my first outdoor experience was exploring the highline canal paths and creek right outside my backyard with my two older siblings. I know the privilege and the importance of cultivating a relationship with my community through nature; for intellectual, spiritual, and physical growth as a human being. I live with right sided hemiplegia because I was born with cerebral palsy.
I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the BOEC’s mission with every individual I meet. We each have our own journey to find ourselves and to connect with others who may have the same or different challenges. We are all united through our love of activities in the outdoors! Through this internship, I hope to gain experience in my chosen career and grow as I share my passion for nature and outdoor activities that highlight the important work of BOEC and the inspiring accomplishments of BOEC participants.
