Rebecca Harris

Summer Intern

Skizzi Huffman

Heyo y’all! My name is Rebecca Harris and I am originally from China(Shenzhen) but now live in BEAUTIFUL Colorado(Littleton)! Fun fact, in my family I have a total of eight siblings and three dogs. I have always had such a love for the outdoors, like camping, hiking, biking, skiing, watching sunsets/sunrises or being under the sky looking up at infinite stars. I graduated from Dakota Ridge High School in 2022, decided to go to college at University of Colorado Colorado Springs to major in nursing then switched to education major. But sadly I wasn’t sure if those majors were in my best interest, so taking a break to see what the future may hold. Before coming here, I was a summer camp counselor at Colorado Academy which gave me the knack of wanting to help people. Some of my siblings who have vision impairments or uses a prosthetic learned how to ski through the BOEC, and when my mom received an email from the BOEC about the internship, I knew what I wanted to do this summer. BOEC has drastically changed my views of outdoor recreation, in love with what BOEC does with inclusivity and the wide range of adaptive opportunities it offers for all people with disabilities. Don’t forget the amazing kind souls here too! I have always had passion in helping others or making a difference. That’s my motto. I can’t wait to see the smiles and laughter of each individual throughout the summer especially those overcoming a goal that they set. I hope to learn from others, grow, be more confident, put others before myself, become a role model, take in the nature and spread positivity through one-person to another at BOEC.
