Michaela Johnston

Hi, my name is Michaela! I’m from Minnetonka, Minnesota and recently graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Film and Television. I love to write, explore new places, make video edits, hike and play my ukulele. I’m a dreamer and do-er, and thrive off trying new things—I’ve worked at the Franklin Park Zoo, MN Children’s Museum, AMC Outdoors Magazine, two different food trucks, overnight summer camps and volunteered at a therapeutic horseback riding program and elephant-welfare project in Thailand. Most recently, I spent 17-days in the backcountry leading trips for 13-year old girls at Camp Thunderbird for Girls in Bemidji, MN. I’ve realized from my experiences outside the classroom that I want to work directly with people, outdoors and for a mission-based organization. At BOEC, I’m eager to step outside my comfort zone, explore careers in the adaptive recreation field, work with diverse groups of people, and help others to experience the same joy I’ve felt ever since my parents strapped a pair of skis on me at age 3.
